Position Overview

Summary:

Working with the Program Director and Clinical Director, the Education Director ensures Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and Behavior Management Plans are effectively implemented and monitored and that the goals of these plans are met. The Education Director, as part of the team, is responsible for current and new program development and regulatory requirements.  The Education Director co-supervises the Educational and Behavioral Services Coordinators (EBSC) and the Clinical and Educational Coordinator (CEC) with the Clinical Director.

 

Hours: 7:30am-3:00pm

Salary: Starting at $85k

Educational and Experiential Requirements:

  • The Education Director must have a special education administrator’s license or be willing to work towards the license by attaining all of the following:
    • Current Massachusetts teaching certification as a special educator. 
    • A minimum of a master's degree in special education or a related field.
    • The educational administrator shall be re-licensed pursuant to the requirements of 603 CMR 44.00.
    • The educational administrator shall obtain supervisory approval of his/her Professional Development Plan per 603 CMR 44.04, if applicable.
  • Current BCBA and LABA (preferred).
  • 5-7 years supervisory experience in the field of autism, education, or ABA.

Skill and Ability Requirements:

  • Knowledge and understanding of private school programs.
  • Knowledge of classroom systems and management techniques.
  • Experience directly teaching individuals with Autism.
  • Experience directly supervising Special Education Teachers.
  • Knowledge of Department of Elementary and Secondary Education policies.
  • Ability to interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, and policies and procedures.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to coordinate and work with professional staff, consultants, and school districts.
  • Mastery of computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Caring, compassionate, hardworking, and punctual.
  • Interest in building a career in nonprofit service for individuals with autism.

General Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the supervision and safety of the students and staff.
  • Uses CALM techniques to maintain safety.
  • Completes high-quality work with minimal errors.
  • Actively recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of others.
  • Accepts performance feedback gracefully.
  • Assists students with Activities of Daily Living including showering and toileting, as needed.
  • Participates in swimming activities, field trips, and community trips, as needed.
  • Drives students and staff in school vehicles to community locations, as needed.
  • Participates in zones during arrival and dismissal, as needed.
  • Adheres to the Crossroads Employee Handbook.
  • Performs other duties as requested by supervisor(s).

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Program Director with the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies and procedures for the Day Program.
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of education policies and procedures.
  • Disseminates procedures and policies, including changes, to staff to assure appropriate implementation.
  • Communicates issues of importance to the Program Director.
  • Interviews potential staff, as requested.
  • Participates at a member of the Admission Committee.
  • Conducts observations/assessments/intakes of potential students.
  • Helps to organize and maintain neatness and safety of the work site.
